James Williams, MSc
James’ graduate work involves an intensive soil and atmospheric gas analysis surrounding legacy oil and coal sites located throughout the Maritimes. As a parallel project, James also recently completed a large-scale analysis of lifecycle emissions from a hydraulic fracturing research site in the Marcellus shale gas region of West Virginia, with collaborators Natalie Pekney at the US National Energy Technologies Laboratory, and Michael McCawley of University of West Virginia. For this work, James recently won Best Student Paper at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Eastern-Region meeting in 2017. He recently completed an industrial internship in Alberta, helping an operator develop a soil gas monitoring program for a CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery project.
