Renée McDonald, BSc Cand
Renée is a fourth year Environmental Sciences student, and multiple NSERC USRA recipient. She has created and deployed an automated CO2 and CH4 soil gas sampler for an area of discontinuous permafrost in northern Norway, working with Hanna Lee and her team from Uni Research Climate. This project will help quantify the rate and form of carbon that is released as permafrost melts with a changing climate. Renee is also field testing a new multi-gas analyzer in both ecological and industrial applications, and will be used to measure gas migration from abandoned wells in Saskatchewan. Renée hails from Surrey, BC, and loves spending time outdoors hiking and running.
