Katlyn MacKay, PhD Cand
A two time graduate of StFX hailing from Antigonish, Katlyn is in her second year of her PhD in Engineering (Oil and Gas) at Memorial University, while still being primarily based in the lab. She has spent the last four years measuring methane in the oil and gas industry, in projects related to methane knowledge translation, training, and blind controlled release testing, alongside several of Canada’a major upstream and midstream companies and several prolific sensor manufacturers. Her PhD research continues to focus on methane gas emissions, which involves a large data aggregation project aimed towards developing a better understanding emission patterns in all major oil and gas producing regions in Canada. Another component of her research will focus on the design and deployment of a ship-borne measurement system that will be used to collect continuous gas measurements in shallow ocean environments.
