Gilles Perrine, MSc Candidate, Field Tech
Gilles Perrine was born and raised in Mauritius and is an Environmentalist in the making. He holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences from St. Francis Xavier university and is on the tail end of his masters degree with the FluxLab. He had the privilege to pursue an academic & research career focusing on ground and aerial methane emission comparison as well as methane emanating from inactive oil and gas infrastructures with the FluxLab.
Science outreach and communication are an important aspect of professional development that he wants to perfect overtime. He was able to worked several months with the Discovery Centre as a facilitator and got to carry on science workshops with individuals of different background and ages. Whether it is being on the field or behind a computer, Gilles forged a plethora of skills that allowed him to be very versatile and comfortable anywhere and with anybody. While still connected to his initial field of predilection, he will lend his skills to the NRCAN project in order to understand methane emission from landfill better. Gilles regards it as an honour to join a group of talented individuals that would strive to improve the FluxLab’s unique quantification methods.
On an individual level, Gilles is an avid Crossfiter, baker and big outdoors fan who love hiking, camping and kayaking. He is also a big rugby and soccer fan as well as a musician.
