Farnaz Farjami, PhD Candidate
Farnaz is a PhD student in Civil Engineering at Memorial University. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology.
In 2022, Farnaz captained her university team in the Solid Waste Association of North America’s Young Professional Competition, where they secured first place. Her presentation skills and technical expertise also earned her the prestigious Rising Star award.
Farnaz’s research focuses on optimizing gas emission estimation models to improve their accuracy and assess the impact of various landfill cover systems on methane emissions. She uses advanced measurement techniques across different seasons to better understand landfill dynamics and contribute to sustainable waste management practices.
Passionate about environmental issues, Farnaz constantly seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge and enjoys collaborating with others to explore innovative ideas. Beyond her academic pursuits, she finds joy in watching TV, cooking, shopping, and furthering her understanding of her research field.
