Farnaz Farjami, PhD Candidate
Farnaz is currently undertaking a PhD in Civil Engineering at Memorial University. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology. Throughout her Master’s degree she worked on a dynamic model that considers different aspects of waste management policy such as environmental, economic, and social.
Farnaz captained the Iran University of Science and Technology team in the Solid Waste Association of North America’s Young Professional Competition in 2022. Their topic was “Evaluating the Limitations of the EPA’s Gas Model (LandGEM) and Developing an Alternative Method for Landfill Emissions Estimation” and they won first place. Her eloquent presentation skills and expertise also earned her the Rising Star award.
Her interest in greenhouse gas emissions led her to become a teacher assistant at the Iran University of Science and Technology for the Air Pollution Engineering course. Farnaz is always trying to learn as much as she can about environmental issues and loves to talk through her ideas with others. She likes to keep her mind busy and likes working on multiple things at once. Outside work, she likes watching TV, cooking, shopping, and learning more about her field.
