Jack Johnson, MSc Cand
Jack has a BSc double major in Aquatic Resources and Earth Sciences, but also has a quantitative bent from earlier studies in engineering. He began a MSc in spring 2017, and he is working with both truck- and drone-based data collection, plus synthetic modelling. His overall project aims to reduce uncertainty in emissions rate estimates, by using features of the measured plumes to interpret emission height. When emission height is poorly defined, it can lead to significant source emission rate uncertainty – which isn’t adequately acknowledged in previous studies of energy sector emissions. Jack is one of our best communicators, and he enjoys playing sports and coaching.
